Sunny's Story
Sunny Fox Thrower was born on September 30th, 2023. Prior to his earthly arrival, this little ray of sunshine was diagnosed with a rare congenital heart disease known as Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). Essentially, the left side of Sunny’s heart is so small that it wouldn’t be able to pump blood sufficiently throughout his body. In order to survive, his heart requires a series of three open heart surgeries. He had his first open heart procedure (the Norwood) at 3 days old on October 3rd and a second unexpected surgery on October 9th. Now in recovery, Sunny will remain in the hospital for an undetermined amount of time until he is ready for us to bring him home. He will need another open heart procedure at around 4-6 months old (the Glen) and another one between 3-5 years old (the Fontan). These surgeries are not cures for Sunny’s condition — they are palliative procedures to allow him the opportunity to have a normal life. All that being said, despite his diagnosis, we are determined to give this little fighter the best life possible. We have felt an outpouring of love and support from our family and friends, as we move through this difficult journey together. - Crystal & Josh
